The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, a national network of independent Blue Plans, has honored Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana with a Brand Excellence Award for retaining the highest percentage of members year-to-year. Between 2010 and 2011, the Louisiana insurer retained more members than any other Blue plan nationwide.
“We are delighted to receive this honor,” said Mike Reitz, President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana. “Our members have made us number one because we put their interests first. They know that we work every day to make sure that they have access to high quality, affordable care.”

Brand Excellence Awards honor Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies that excel in developing and enhancing the overall Blue Cross and Blue Shield brand. The Association gives awards to those Blue Plans that excel in attracting new customers, building loyalty with existing customers, expanding the brand into additional lines of products or services and provider satisfaction.
