Apply for a Producer Contract

Here's how it works:

All applicants must first have a valid "C" license for the state of Louisiana. Visit http://www.ldi.state.la.us/ for more information.

Step 1: Producer Profile Application
To apply for producer contracting, complete and submit the online Producer Profile. Each producer profile will be reviewed and approved or disapproved by a Blue Cross regional director. You may be contacted by a Blue Cross regional director to discuss your application. If you are approved for contracting as an individual sales producer, you will be mailed a training packet to complete.

Step 2: Contracting
If your Producer Profile Application is approved, you will be sent Producer Agreements and/or Assignments of Commission forms electronically. Complete and sign this paperwork, attach a copy of your Louisiana insurance license and proof of errors and omissions (E&O) coverage, and submit all documents to BCBSLA Producer Contracting for processing. (See below for E&O details.)

How to Submit Documents Errors and Omissions (E&O) Coverage
  • E&O coverage must include aggregate limits of not less than $1,000,000 and per occurrence limits of not less than $500,000.
  • May obtain coverage from any solvent E&O insurer.
  • Contracted BCBSLA producers are eligible to purchase an E&O policy through BCS Insurance Services by contacting them directly at 1.866.389.0022 or by requesting an application brochure from Producer Services at 1.800.222.0524 or producerservices@bcbsla.com.
  • Note that BCBSLA does not sell, underwrite or administer this E&O insurance. All questions regarding E&O insurance should be directed to BCS Insurance Services.

Step 3: Processing
BCBSLA Producer Contracting will process your contract and assign a producer number. We will e-mail you the assigned producer number, which is necessary for conducting business with BCBSLA. Once you receive a producer number, you may begin to sell our products. We will send your name to the Louisiana Department of Insurance (DOI) for approval. You can check the status of your appointment by visiting http://www.ldi.state.la.us/.

Step 4: Confirmation
When BCBSLA is notified by DOI that your contract has been approved, we will send you confirmation via postal mail and you will then be eligible for commission payments.
