How can I pay my bill?
Members can pay their bills through one of the payment options below. Please use your current member number when paying. You can find your member number on your current ID card. If you have any questions, please call the phone number on the back of your ID card.

    Complete the appropriate bank draft form below, and return by fax or mail. Please allow 30 days to for processing. You must have a $0 balance before submitting the bank draft form.

    Pay through your online account at www.BCBSLA.com, a convenient and paperless method of paying your monthly premium using your checking account or credit card. For more information about paying online, view the ePayment FAQs.
  • Telephone
    Pay by phone using your credit card during regular business hours by calling 1-800-495-2583.
  • Mail
    Mail your payment notice with a check, money order or cashier's check. Write your member number and the month you are paying on your check, money order or cashier's check. Make sure your payment amount matches the payment notice exactly. Please allow 10 days for your payment to reach us via postal service.

Through My Account you can:

  • Review your claims
  • View covered dependents' claims (Available to primary cardholders only; dependents must be under age 18)
  • Pay your bill online
  • Create and maintain a Personal Health Record for you and your family
  • View medical policy coverage guidelines
  • Change your address (Primary cardholders only)+
  • Order ID cards, etc. (Primary cardholders only)+
  • Add a dependent to your coverage (Primary cardholders only)+
  • Note: Not all My Account services are available to all members

Members under an employer-sponsored plan cannot access these services unless your employer has elected to participate. Primary cardholders can access member maintenance information for themselves and those covered under their plan.

Your claim may have been returned because it did not include all of the information necessary for processing. Call the Customer Service number on the back of your ID card to find out the reason why your claim was returned and what additional information, if any, is needed for processing.Back to top My claim was returned as being investigational. What does investigational mean?
A medical treatment, procedure, drug, device or biological product is investigational if its effectiveness has not been established by credible scientific evidence published in peer-reviewed medical literature generally recognized by the relevant medical community and it has not been incorporated into standard medical practice. To learn more, you should review your contract booklet. To appeal a prior decision that we have made, submit a written request in a timely manner. Back to top I did not receive my claim payment. Can you re-issue the claim payment?
Yes, we can re-issue a claim payment check. The original check must have been issued more than 15 days before the request for a new check is made and the original check must be outstanding. We will issue a stop payment on the original check and will send a request to the Accounting Department to reissue a check. Our Accounting Department will check with our bank before reissuing the check.Back to top How can I find a doctor?

If you have prescription drug coverage administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana or HMO Louisiana, your personal prescription drug information is available through ExpressScripts, Inc.* Once you're registered at the site, you have access to such information as:

  • Details on your prescription benefits, including co-pay/co-insurance costs
  • Prescription drug history for the last 12 months for you and your covered family members (some claims may not be displayed due to technical limitations)
  • Possible interactions of your prescription drugs with other medicines, food or alcohol
  • A pharmacy locator that helps you find available 24-hour pharmacies closest to your home

Individual and Family Deductible amounts vary according to your contract type, the type of covered services rendered and where these services are received. Check the Schedule of Benefits attached to your contract or certificate or call the Customer Service number on the back of your ID card.

You can change your PCP at any time by contacting our Customer Service Department at the number listed on the back of your ID card.Back to top How can I change my address with Blue Cross and/or HMO Louisiana?
Blue Cross and HMOLA must receive a written notice to make a change of address. The notice can either be a letter or change of status card and must include a signature. A notice to change an address with Blue Cross and HMOLA should be mailed to:

If you are a group member of Blue Cross or HMOLA, you can secure a change of status card from your group leader. If you are an individual subscriber of Blue Cross, please call Customer Service at 225-291-5370 or 1-800-495-2583.
