Click on the "BlueCard® Out-of-Area" option to electronically request eligibility and benefits information from the member's Blue Plan.
Claim Submissions
Out-of-state claims are routed to the Blue Plan that provides the member's benefits.
Claim Status
- Locally: Click on the "claims research" option to view Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisana and BlueCard claims that we have processed.
- Other Blue Plan: Click on "BlueCard Out-of-Area" option to transmit an electronic request to member's Blue Plan for determining claim status of claims in process. Process receipt may take several minutes.
*iLinkBLUE Enhancement
The iLinkBLUE Claim Status functionality for BlueCard (out-of-state claims) has been enhanced. ITS Out-of-Area Claims has been added to the claims research portion of iLinkBLUE. Providers no longer have to modify the contract number when researching out-of-state claims (i.e. remove prefix, add Z or zero in 10th position) when researching claims submitted for Blue Plan members from out-of-state Blue Plans. You now key the entire contract number, including the alpha prefix.
