Reporting Fraud

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has a special unit dedicated to fighting health care fraud. Working with law enforcement, the Financial Investigations Office evaluates all allegations of fraud, waste and abuse.

You can help us fight fraud by paying close attention to your Medicare Part D benefits. Review every Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for accuracy and report any questionable activity to our dedicated hotline at 1-800-392-9249. This hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Staffers trained in detecting fraud, waste and abuse will evaluate your call and determine the appropriate course of action.

Examples of potentially fraudulent activities

  • You did not receive a medication listed on your EOB.
  • You received a different drug than what is listed on your EOB.
  • You received a different quantity of drug than what is listed on your EOB.
  • Someone asked you to sell your Medicare prescription drug card.
  • Someone asked you to get drugs for them using your Medicare prescription drug card.
  • Someone offered you cash to purchase a Part D product or to dis-enroll from your current plan.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has contracted with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to offer RxBLUE, a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
