For the fourth straight year, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is ranked No. 1 among all Blue Plans for provider satisfaction. No other Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield Plan has ever reached this milestone.
The satisfaction rating comes from a nationwide survey conducted annually by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, a national federation of 39 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. The Association surveys the office staff of providers who participate in its BlueCard® program, which allows Blue Cross policyholders to receive care when traveling out of their home states.
Richard Williams, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana’s senior vice president, provider and customer relations, said he is pleased the company has maintained its high provider satisfaction ratings even through the issues that faced Louisiana’s healthcare system after hurricanes Katrina and Rita. “We are proud of the efforts our employees have made to manage and serve our provider networks,” he said. Nearly 9 out of every 10 doctors in Louisiana belong to a Blue Cross network.
Williams said that no other Blue Plan has won this award for even two consecutive years – and BCBSLA has now done so four times. “Everyone here has worked hard to help us achieve this significant recognition,” Williams said.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is Louisiana-owned and -operated. Marking its 73rd anniversary this year, the company is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
