Barbara Barras worked to establish a Boys & Girls Club for Assumption Parish youth. An artist by profession, Barbara organized an art camp for underprivileged kids, which then led to her continuing involvement in bringing activities and programs to children. From being the janitor to the program director, Barbara has helped the Boys and Girls Club grow to become a vital force for the young people in Napoleonville.

Julien, of Plattenville, created the Imani Spiritual Dancers, a troupe offering interpretive dance to children of all races and denominations in a rural area.

Templet, a resident of Napoleonville, devotes volunteer time to helping Assumption Parish children.

Also an Angel Award nominee in past years, including 2002, Barbara Barras helped a group of teens in her area found Peers Against Tobacco, an award-winning youth-led advocacy group dedicated to smoking cessation efforts and prevention of youth smoking. She facilitates youth efforts that have not only led to the first-ever partial community ban on smoking in the workplace, but also have brought the children themselves recognition and education in how to be advocates for a worthy cause.
