The Angel Award is one of our BCBSLA Foundation’s signature programs. This annual statewide recognition program awards funds to outstanding Louisianians to further their efforts* to improve the quality of life for the state's children. More than 1,000 outstanding Louisianians have been nominated for the Angel Award since the program’s inception in 1995, including the 2008 winners pictured below. To learn about the angels in your community, access our database of nominees and winners.
Past winners have come from all walks of life and ranged in age from 17 to 93. What they all had in common was their unselfish contribution of time and energy to improve the welfare of the children in their communities. Learn more about the 2008 event.
You may nominate someone for work performed through churches, schools, civic organizations, or individual effort. Their volunteer work must have been performed in the state of Louisiana, with Louisiana children as the primary beneficiaries. The volunteer effort can be focused on enhancing any aspect of a child’s life, including physical, emotional, creative and spiritual. A committee of past Angel Award honorees selects each year’s winners.
