Before the Storm
- Gather copies of your important healthcare documents and store them in a safe place.
- Create a Personal Health Record for you and your family. This secure, password-protected online record is available 24/7, wherever you are. Best of all, your Personal Health Record is yours to keep, even if you change health insurance carriers.
- Register for AccessBlue, our free online member service tool. You can register and login from the AccessBlue box found on the upper right of every BCBSLA.com webpage. AccessBlue lets you:
- Create a Personal Health Record
- View and print your claims-based health history
- Review claims status, and
- Update personal information.
- Keep several days' worth of your prescription medications on hand.
- Write down your employer's insurance contact information, if applicable.
- Complete an authorized delegate form for all covered family members age 18 or older.
- Complete the Be Safe. Be Prepared. card (see below) and carry it in your wallet or file it with important health documents.

After the Storm
- Remember to return to this webpage for the latest information, or call the Customer Service number on your ID card.
- Share your temporary address with Blue Cross if you will be away from home for an extended time. You can change your address using AccessBlue.
- If evacuated, use Louisiana Hospital Inform or other online tools to learn more about hospitals throughout Louisiana.
- Make sure you include your policy number or contract number with your premium payment. Most individual customers can now pay their BCBSLA or HMO Louisiana bill online through AccessBlue.
