Hospitals can earn the Blue Distinction award by displaying quality in bariatric surgery, cardiac care, knee and hip replacement, spine surgery, complex and rare cancers, and transplants.

- Quality Initiatives - Blue Cross encourages physicians to provide quality care with programs like Blue Physician Recognition and Physician Quality Measurement. These programs reward doctors and hospitals that meet quality standards. We also license with Bridges to Excellence (BTE), a nationally recognized program that promotes the delivery of safe, effective, efficient care by rewarding physicians with incentives. Blue Cross offers BTE recognition and rewards to both individual providers and clinics with the following provider specialties: Family medicine, General practice and Internal medicine.
And Blue Cross and HMO Louisiana, Inc. hold four accreditations from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based healthcare organization that establishes quality standards for the healthcare industry.
