Community Relations

As a concerned corporate citizen, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Louisiana through community involvement, employee volunteerism and the investment of resources in the communities we serve.

Our community relations efforts are designed to show our commitment to our state and to support the health, education and wellness needs of our neighbors. We also recognize and support employees as our most valuable asset. Our charitable giving and volunteer opportunities help make Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana a great place to work.

Some of our top community relations programs include:

Team Blue. Blue Cross wants to be a valuable resource in Louisiana communities. One way we do that is through a league of employee volunteers called Team Blue. If your organization needs volunteer help, find out more or fill out a Team Blue request form.

Employee drives and fund-raisers. In addition to giving their time through volunteer work, employees often give cash or non-cash donations – such as food, toys and electronics – to charitable organizations.

Matching gift program. Employees who donate at least $100 to a nonprofit organization of their choice can request a company match up to $1,500.

United Way. Each year, Blue Cross employees conduct creative fund-raising campaigns to support the Capital Area United Way (CAUW), which funds several dozen community agencies in the greater Baton Rouge area. The company matches employee donations dollar-for-dollar.

Louisiana 2 Step. To prevent and combat obesity in Louisiana, Blue Cross partnered with the world-renowned Pennington Biomedical Research Center to develop a free online motivational program that encourages two simple steps to better health: eat right and move more. Check it out at www.Louisiana2Step.com. There's also a kid-friendly version called 2 Step 4 Kids, with interactive tools and games and resources for teachers and parents.
