Hurricane Preparedness
Breaking News: Tropical Storm Lee
Late in the afternoon on Fri., Sept. 2, Gov. Bobby Jindal declared a State of Emergency for the state of Louisiana.
Therefore, our pharmacy benefits manager, Express Scripts, has implemented its Emergency Refill Too Soon Procedures for Louisiana.
This means that our members in parishes affected by the disaster who have Express Scripts pharmacy benefits may refill your prescriptions early, if necessary, through Sept. 30. If you must evacuate, or if you lose your medication due to flooding, you should be able to refill the prescription, even if 30 days have not passed since the last refill.
If you do have trouble refilling a prescription, please call the Pharmacy or Customer Service phone number on your Blue Cross or HMO member ID card.
You must still pay your usual copayment, deductible and coinsurance for all medications, and all other standard procedures are still in place. Prior authorizations and step therapy procedures, if applicable, are still being enforced at this time.
Please bookmark this page and return for more information as this weather emergency develops. Blue Cross 1,900 employees statewide are here to monitor the situation and let you know of any other important coverage or network changes.
In addition, review the tips below for keeping yourself – and your healthcare information – safe during hurricane season.
