Healthy Version of Cookbook Classic Now Offered at Discount

Junior League of Baton Rouge and Blue Cross' Louisiana 2 Step join forces to promote better health

The healthy-focus version of the local cookbook favorite River Road Recipes is now available at the discounted price of $12 to all members of the Louisiana 2 Step, a free statewide public health program aimed at getting Louisianians to eat right and move more.

As a new bonus program of the Louisiana 2 Step campaign sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, The Junior League of Baton Rouge will allow registered 2 Step members to purchase their River Road Recipes III: A Healthy Collection cookbook at the discounted price of $12. The cookbook can help 2 Steppers to eat right with more than 300 lower-fat and -calorie recipes, with a full nutritional analysis for each.

"Part of The Junior League's vision is to enhance our community's quality of life in the areas of physical health and education, and the 2 Step program does just that."

The Louisiana 2 Step campaign urges Louisiana residents to "Do the 2" or take two small daily steps toward better health: eat right and move more. The fun, free and informational website at www.Louisiana2Step.com gives visitors a wide variety of interactive tools, including virtual health coaches, to educate, motivate and inspire them to make healthier lifestyle choices.

To purchase the cookbook, registered 2 Step members can click on the "Bonus Programs" button on the main page of the 2 Step website at www.Louisiana2Step.com, and then click "Join" under the River Road Recipes III description.

Much of the information on www.Louisiana2Step.com is available without registering, but registered members have access to a broader range of interactive tools for health management in addition to bonus program offers. There is no charge to register for the Louisiana 2 Step.

The Junior League of Baton Rouge and Blue Cross will also join forces at various community events, using recipe tastings and the discount cookbook offer to promote the Louisiana 2 Step, its companion 2 Step 4 Kids program (www.2Step4Kids.com), the River Road Recipes III cookbook and healthier meals for families. In addition, Blue Cross will provide 2 Step website visitors with sample recipes from the River Road Recipes III cookbook in the "Healthier Recipes" section.
