Blue Cross Promotes Three to Vice President

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana has recently promoted three long-time employees to vice president in recognition of their increasing responsibility and their contributions to Blue Cross.

Greg Cross has been promoted to vice president of sales, where he will develop and direct a plan of action for sales, service, advertising, product planning and market research. Cross has been with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana for nearly 11 years and most recently served as statewide sales director. Before that, he spent more than 12 years in sales management with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Arkansas. He attended Northwestern State University and served in the U.S. Air Force on active duty for more than seven years.

Darrell Langlois has been named vice president, Compliance, Privacy and Fraud. Langlois joined BCBSLA in July 1990 and previously served as director, Compliance and Integrity Office. There, he contributed to a track record of outstanding success in preventing and investigating fraud. His team saved the company and its members some $6.8 million in 2009 alone through fraud prevention and recovery efforts, and they have also helped law enforcement identify, investigate and prosecute criminals who victimized Blue Cross members. In his new role, Langlois will oversee and direct the management of the Compliance and Ethics Office, the Privacy Office and the Financial Investigations unit.

Before coming to Blue Cross, Langlois was an internal auditor with JC Penney in Dallas, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from LSU and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Accredited Healthcare Fraud Investigator (AHFI).

Gina Laird is now vice president, business engineering. Previously director, business engineering, she has been with Blue Cross for 18 years and has worked in various capacities in the Benefits Administration and Provider Network Administration departments. Prior to joining Blue Cross, Laird was an instructor and program director at Delta Business College. She graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor's degree in management and finance and is a certified Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.

In her new position, Laird will oversee operations of the Business Engineering Team, with responsibility for ongoing planning, configuration and maintenance of the company's core administrative computer system. She also will contribute significantly to design solutions that leverage process and technology to achieve organizational objectives.
